Cylindrical micromachining system from NUTEC

Company

Nutec Components Inc.

631-242-1225

Intended for cylindrical laser machining of medical devices and MEMS components, the LaserLathe motion platform from NUTEC Components Inc., Long Island, N.Y., is said to be capable of small diameter work down to 0.2mm with accuracies to within 100nm, according to the company.

The LaserLathe is a new cylindrical micromachining system from NUTEC Components Inc.

The LaserLathe platform integrates a linear servo motor axis and direct-drive servo rotary, with a variety of collet and jaw-type workholding devices and optional workpiece guides. The cylindrical micromachining system (CLS) comes equipped with the nuFace customizable GUI interface to expedite the adoption and use by operators, set-up technicians and engineers. Also included are a digital servo control, an industrial PC and a touchscreen LCD monitor.

The system, which uses standard RS-274 G-Code, also features an opto-electronic interface that is said to allow control of various lasers and auxiliary devices for complete machine control.

"The environmental hardening with the patented CLS linear seal protects the mechanical translation system in contaminated and wet environments," according to a company news release.

The system is available in different sizes and accommodates a workpiece diameter from 0.2mm to 32mm, and a workpiece length up to 500mm.
