GF AgieCharmilles' new wire EDM machine

GF AgieCharmilles'new CUT 1000 wire EDM machine, introduced in the U.K., is designed specifically for very precise micromachining applications, and replaces the company's AC Vertex 1 machine.

The CUT 1000 features a heavily reinforced and rigid machine base with slide blocks run on roller guide rails positioned directly on the monobloc; X-axis and Y-axis guideways are separate, thereby eliminating mutual interference and tripping errors; and its integrated measuring systems are designed to ensure positional accuracy (+/-1μm and homogenous surface finishes R_a 0.05μm).

As with the AC Vertex 1, the CUT 1000 incorporates the company's DUO wire technology, which is equipped with 2 × wire spools and can use different diameter wires for different machining operations. Other features include the CUT 1000's new touch screen remote control, designed to allow operators to input and select data quickly and reduce setup time.
