The Multi-Flute, High-Helix Finisher illustrated above is for finishing aluminum and aluminum alloys. It is also said to be suitable for copper, brass and bronze alloys.

Harvey Tool Co. LLC has released its fall 2011 catalog, which provides a look at about 400 new tools and information on additional sizes and reaches in expanded product lines.

The company reports that one new tool is a miniature multiple-flute, high-helix endmill for finishing aluminum alloys, copper, brass, bronze and other nonferrous materials. Available as small as 0.015", the finisher has a variable helix and variable index to overcome harmonics and reduce chatter.

In addition, the tool imparts a fine surface finish and effectively evacuates chips, according to the company. The tool’s TiB2 coating has a low affinity to aluminum, helping to prevent built-up edge and chip packing and extending tool life. The endmill is also available uncoated.
