MicroEDMing micro nozzles
Mikros Technologies Inc.designs and manufactures metal components with micron-sized features and submicron precision.
Using microEDMing technology, Mikros manufactures stainless steel micro nozzles for industrial inkjet marking systems, and routinely fabricates nozzle arrays with hundreds or thousands of shaped nozzles with diameters ranging from 30µm to 80µm. The micro nozzle arrays are machined in thin, free-standing foils or on foils that are diffusion bonded to thicker substrates with complex internal flow passages.

| Mikros produces hundreds or thousands of shaped nozzles with diameters ranging from 30µm to 80µm. |
Parts that are made with microEDMing are customized for specific applications. The products are developed through a joint project with customers and are made to precise specifications.
Capabilities include:
- straight bore or shaped orifice profiles,
- orifice diameters in the 6µm to 250µm range,
- diameter uniformity of ±0.5µm for arrays with hundreds or thousands of orifices,
- 100 percent automated inspection of orifice diameter and position.
In recent years, Claremont, N.H.-based Mikros has returned to its thermal management roots and is now applying its microfabrication expertise to the development of high-performance micro channel heat exchangers.
