Micromolding co. serves medical, consumer electronics markets
Matrix Plastics Products, Wood Dale, Ill., micromolds plastic parts smaller than a pellet of resin with tolerances of 12.7µm or less for the consumer electronics industry, according to the company's Web site.
Most of the company's micromolded parts, though, are for the medical industry's growing market of minimally invasive surgical applications. Among the medical parts produced is a pusher for a micro linear cutter cartridge that measures 0.031" x 0.040" x 0.040" and weighs 0.0008 g.

Matrix Tooling Inc., which is housed under the same roof in Wood Dale, builds most of the company's micromolds with cold runners and low cavitations because the combination makes it easier to maintain tight specifications, according to the Web site.
