New precision turning center for small parts

Miyano Machinery USA Inc.recently introduced its GN-3200 Ultra-Precision Turning Center, designed for high-precision hard turning of small components that are traditionally finished on a grinding machine. The company's GN Series machines are primarily intended for second operation finishing work adn hard turning of treated components.

Manufactured for out-of-the-box automation, the GN Series machines feature a standard high-speed gantry loader with a maximum service time of 3.5 seconds. The GN-3200 occupies a floor space of 2.3' wide × 4.8' deep.

The GN-3200 has a 0.1μm input tolerance, a maximum turning diameter of 45mm and a maximum turning length of 50mm. It also features a heat-symmetric machine frame and bed, wing-type headstock and separate coolant tank to prevent thermal distoration over time; in addition, heat generated by machining will not be transmitted to the machine body. The company reported that the single-slide structure of the X-axis turret and the Z-axis spindle achieves almost zero lost motion by improving follow-up accuracy. The GN-3200's features X-axis and Z-axis slideways designed for optimal damping and precisely controlled discharge of slideway lubricant.
