This machine, designed and built by DWFritz, precisely aligns, assembles, laser-welds and inspects microparts produced for the high-tech electronics industry.

Examples of the company’s work include:

• Implant Inspection System Laser. Captures 55 measurements per part in just seconds with 2µm repeatability. The system performs high-throughput inspection of many different types of implant parts (screws, hooks, connectors) using high performance machine vision, a 6-axis robot and sophisticated custom software.
• Assembly System Precision Dispensing System. Precisely align, assemble, laser-weld and inspect tiny parts in 3 seconds. Machine orients, assembles, laser-welds and inspects 3.7mm-diameter plastic parts. Component alignment is via machine vision. Inspections are performed with a combination of machine vision and physical (Heidenhain) gauges.
• Precision Dispensing System. Apply 300µm glue dots at 3 dots/sec. with 25µm accuracy. Using machine vision and high precision dispensing tools, this high-speed system applies precisely metered glue dots. Glue dot placement and size are verified by onboard machine vision.
