Company Focus: Performance Micro Tool

Performance Micro Tool, Janesville, Wis., is a high-technology micro carbide tool company that makes micro endmills as small as 5┬Ám, which may be the smallest such tool in the world, according to company President and General Manager Dave Burton.

Recently Burton purchased a high-speed camera to film the tiny tools in action to better understand what is happening on the micron level during the cutting process. Burton discussed the importance of this effort with MICROmanufacturing Electronic Media Editor Dennis Spaeth during The 5th International Conference on MicroManufacturing (ICOMM/4M 2010) held at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in April.
