Taking a spin—at 150k

The new HiSpinner HTS1500 air motor from Lyndex-Nikken Inc. has a top speed of 150,000 rpm and is designed for cutters with diameters less than 1mm.

According to Lyndex, the air motor offers:

• Stable Z-axis displacement. (Because the machine spindle remains stationary while the unit operates, the spindle isn’t affected by thermal expansion.)
• The high rotational speed permits higher feed rates and extends cutter life.
• Spindle runout accuracy of 1μm.

The HTS1500 can be used with an ATC (automatic toolchanger) and is available in three taper styles: BT (30, 40, 50), CAT (40, 50) and HSK (50A, 63A, 100A).
